Five earn NJAC Football All-Conference honors

The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) recently announced its 2010 Football All-Conference selections, naming five Morrisville State College student-athletes to its teams.



Senior wide receiver, Kyle Gordon (Riverhead, NY), earned first team offense honors following a stellar final season for the Mustangs. In 10 games he posted 51 receptions for 735 yards and seven touchdown scores, averaging 14.4 yards per catch and 73.5 yards per game for Morrisville State. Ranked second in the NJAC in receptions per game and receiving yards per game, Gordon is also ranked 86th nationally in the NCAA in receiving yards per game.



Anthony Brown (Rochester, NY), junior linebacker for the Mustangs, was named to the first team defense, following a collegiate best 2010 season. In 10 games for Morrisville State, he recorded 32 solo tackles, assisted 63, for a total of 95 on the season. Three and a half tackles were for a loss of five yards. He also posted three forced fumbles, recovering two. Brown tops the NJAC in fumbles forced and is ranked fourth overall in tackles per game (9.5), and completes the season ranked 68th overall in the NCAA in tackles.



Senior safety, Tommy Moyon (Woodside, NY) completes his career with second team defense honors. In 10 games, he compiled 24 solo and 44 assisted tackles for a total of 68, posted five interceptions for 110-yards, and broke up four passes. He ranks 19th overall in the conference in tackles, fifth in passes defended, and third in interceptions. Moyon is ranked 37th in the NCAA in interceptions.



Seniors Sean Barrett (Hopewell Junction, NY) and Sam Pelham (Voorheesville, NY) each earned honorable mention honors.



Barrett, full back, carried the ball 133 times this season for 649-yards and seven touchdowns, adding 14 catches for 61-yards and two scores to his tallies. He led the team in scoring (54 points) and in the running game, averaging 4.9 yards per carry and 73.7 all-purpose yards per game. Barrett completed the season ranked 12th in the conference in all-purpose running, eighth in rushing, and was tied for seventh in scoring.



At defensive end, Pelham tallied 31 total tackles, 17 solo, in 10 games for the Mustangs this season. Of his season total, 7.5 were for a loss of 47-yards, including six quarterback sacks for a loss of 45-yards. He is ranked 21st in tackles for a loss in the NJAC, and third in sacks.



Morrisville State finished the 2010 season ranked eighth in the conference (2-8 overall, 2-7 NJAC), posting NJAC victories over Brockport and Western Connecticut.
