As we approach the start of the fall 2020 semester, we will share a series of messages to ensure you have answers to as many of your questions as possible before returning to campus. Please find below updates to our housing policy, as well as information regarding visitation in our residence halls. The complete return-to-campus plan, which has received approval from SUNY system and meets the New York State Department of Health's Reopening New York Higher Education Guidelines, is available on our Fall 2020 Reopening Plans and Updates webpage. Please recognize that all plans are still subject to change due to new information, guidance or direction from the state.
Residence Life Housing Policy
Students who live in SUNY Morrisville housing must accept a housing license and have a residential meal plan, as required by the Morrisville Auxiliary Corporation.
The college does not provide married/family student housing. All first-year and second-year students are required to live in college housing. All residential students will be expected to abide by the terms of the housing license, including living in college housing for both the fall and spring semesters.
Students who wish to be exempt or released from the housing license for the fall 2020 semester must apply for exemption. Students may or may not be released from their license and should not move out of college housing or enter into any off-campus housing agreement until their application is reviewed and a decision is reached by a committee.
Residence Life forms, including the license and release request, are available online.
Fall Residence Hall Visitor Policy
• Each resident is allowed up to two (2) guests. Each guest must complete the visitation application, which will be available on the Office of Residence Life webpage. If a guest does not live in a student’s residence hall, the guest must be signed into that student’s hall.
• In the Commons residence halls, each resident may have up to two (2) guests, but no more than 10 people total, including residents can be in a suite.
• All visitors are required to complete a COVID-19 screening checklist.
• Failure to comply with these rules will result in a formal write-up.
• When having guests in a residence hall, it is strongly recommended that students wear a mask or face covering and practice physical distancing whenever possible.
#MustangsWearMasks
Wearing a mask or face covering and practicing physical distancing wherever possible are the best ways to prevent the transmission of COVID-19. Students and employees are required to wear face coverings when in all public spaces and spaces used by multiple people.
Our return-to-campus plan is constantly evolving. We will continue to share updates about life on campus, as more details develop. You also can find more information regarding what to expect during the fall 2020 semester by visiting our Fall 2020 Reopening Plans and Updates homepage.
