Campus Access Limited until April 29
To comply with Governor Andrew Cuomo’s New York State On PAUSE order, most campus buildings will remain accessible only by key or card swipe and nonessential employees will continue to work from home until further notice. Students not currently living on campus will not be granted access to residence halls to collect nonessential belongs until the order is lifted. Students in need of essential items may use the Essential Items Retrieval Program to request Residence Life to retrieve, package and ship items needed to successfully complete academic work, or health items, such as medication.
Pass/Not Pass
For the remainder of the spring 2020 semester, students can request a Pass/Not Pass option for grading, rather than a standard letter grade (A-F). The change is limited to eight credits. Individual students are responsible for evaluating whether making such a change will have a negative impact on financial aid, scholarships or progress toward a degree. Students are encouraged to discuss any changes with their academic advisors.
Rules and the request form for changing to Pass/Not Pass can be found on the registrar’s webpage under Forms and Documents.
Continue Social Distancing in Nice Weather
Governor Cuomo and expert advisors have urged everyone to remain committed to social distancing practices, even as warmer weather approaches and individuals want to spend more time outside. While outdoor activity is healthy, everyone is advised to keep distances of at least six feet apart and to consider wearing a cloth mask or other reusable personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize exposure of themselves and others.
Norwich Campus Limited Access
Access to the Norwich Campus is limited to Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. With reduced traffic to the building, this will improve security efforts and reduce expenses. Students, faculty and staff can contact director Lindsey Lefevre to make alternative arrangements or ask questions.
Mail Room Closed this Friday, April 10
The campus mail room will be closed this Friday, April 10. Appointments for package pickup should still be made by contacting the mailroom at mailroom@morrisville.edu.
Help Desk Ticket System
Students, faculty and staff can still get support from the Help Desk. Some useful information about caring for laptops, batteries and several tutorials are all available on the website. Anyone can contact the Help Desk by phone or email, or submit a support ticket at TSTickets@morrisville.edu.
New Peer Support Team
The Peer Support Team has been created as another resource to address the needs of all of our students. There are multiple channels within the TEAM Group.
The “General” Channel is used for communication of basic questions, and sharing ideas and thoughts. The individual channels are created for each of our peer support members. Each member has been asked to write a brief introduction in their channel. In addition, they have created a calendar of available hours for students to ask questions about specific course information. Peer support members have the ability to recruit students to their personal channel or to the General channel. Encourage students to:
- Ask questions about a specific course
- Ask questions about managing an online course
- Share tips and ideas
- Provide overall support through dialog with one another
- Reach out to their professors
Remember that the mantra for this crisis is “We are in this together.” Let us be a viable resource for others!
Reminder: Still Taking Responses to Technology Survey
We still want to make sure you have the technology you need to have a successful distance learning experience for the remainder of the semester. Please take just a couple of minutes to complete this survey and let us know what technology you have, and what you might need.
