Lauren Bordonaro (North Tonawanda, NY) scored a hat trick to lead the Mustangs, but Morrisville State College fell 4-3 to visiting Houghton College Saturday afternoon in Morrisville.
The Highlanders' took the lead 15 minutes into the game, after Rachel Stefanski (Wallingford, CT) scored an unassisted goal into the open net. With four minutes remaining in the half, Jennifer Huyett (Stevens, PA) added another unassisted Highlanders' goal to make it 2-0.
Bordonaro scored nine minutes into the second half, assisted by Alexis Tinnirello (West Islip, NY) to put the Mustangs on the board. Four minutes later Bordonaro scored her second goal of the game, off a breakaway, to tie the game at two each.
The Mustangs took the lead 17 minutes into the second half when Rebecca Meyer (Morrisville, NY) assisted Bordonaro, for her third goal of the game. Less than a minute later, Jennifer Newcombe (Rowley, MA), who was assisted by Huyett, scored to tie the game back up three all.
The Highlanders' took back the lead 67 minutes into the game when Cala Galioto (Arcade, NY) scored, assisted by Huyett to overcome the Mustangs.
Kelsey Pellegrino (Cicero, NY) recorded the loss for the Mustangs, tallying three saves in 70 minutes of play. Highlanders' goalkeeper Hillery Duman (Chafee, NY) saved five.
The team's overall record drops to 8-10. The Mustangs finish out their regular season at home on Drake Field at 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 3 against Nazareth College.
