The Morrisville State College athletic department has named Jordan Anderson (West Edmeston, N.Y.) and Daniel Morello (Vaughan, ON) it’s Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 12.
Anderson, guard for the women’s basketball team, led the Mustangs to a 2-1 week and made history along the way. In the win over Penn College of Technology last Thursday, Anderson recorded 11 steals, tying the North Eastern Athletic Conference’s all-time mark, while also scoring a season- and game-high 23 points after shooting 50 percent from the field. She added 10 of her points on 11 attempts from the free throw line, while her 11 steals also set a new single game Mustang mark, and is a new single game national high across all of Division III this season.
On the week Anderson posted averages of 15.3 points, 6 steals and 2.3 assists per game, and is currently ranked second in the conference in steals with 42. Her steal total on the season also ranks her 15th nationally in steals per game (3.82).
The freshman is a graduate of Unadilla Valley High and is majoring in human performance and health promotion at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Wendy and Steve Anderson of West Edmeston.
A senior defender for the Mustangs hockey team, Morello had a four point weekend in a 1-1 split for Morrisville State.
Against the University of New England, he posted a goal, before following up with three
assists in the win over Becker.
Morello currently has four goals and seven assists on the season for Morrisville State,
matching his collegiate best 11 points on the season, to date.
The senior is a human performance and health promotion major at Morrisville, and is
the son of Silvana and Carlo Morello of Vaughan, Ontario.
