Celebrate 30 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act in our virtual event on July 29.
Leaders in higher education and public service come together for an important virtual discussion that will focus on people with all kinds of disabilities and discuss ways to empower and provide opportunities through education, civic engagement and the workforce.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which became law in 1990, prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private places that are open to the general public. In it, civil rights protections are given to individuals with disabilities similar to those provided to individuals on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, age, and religion.
