Microcredential and Workforce Development Badges
As part of the Human Services Program (major # 0604), the Direct Support Professional I (DSP I) micro-credential includes two courses. HUMS 200 (Helping Process & Crisis Intervention) will provide students with the skills and strategies necessary in effective helping from client-centered and strength-based perspectives. HUMS 125 (Mental Health & Wellness) will address the intrapersonal, social, and environmental risk factors influencing health, mental health, and wellness.

Students will develop counseling and case management techniques by learning intentional interviewing strategies and effective intervention skills using a strengths-based perspective. They will learn to address critical practice, policy and research topics in the human services field as they emerge in a range of practice locations. Student will be able to fulfill the 50 hours of educational requirements for completion of the National Alliance of Direct Support Professional DSP II accreditation.

Gain knowledge of multiple modalities of practice interventions, helping skills, and human services delivery systems in the DSP III micro-credential. Learn about the various positions available in the helping profession and gain an increased understanding of applied learning. Fulfills the educational requirements of the National Alliance of Direct Support Professional DSP III accreditation. Pre-requisites DSP I and DSP II.

This micro-credential covers the theory and practice of aquaculture techniques used in growing various aquatic animal species in different systems. Primarily the micro-credential focuses on the basics of aquatic animal husbandry, a diversity of aquaculture systems, and the state of the global aquaculture industry. Topics covered will include the needs of the industry, as compared to fisheries, species of importance in aquaculture, system development, and sustainability.
