High school seniors in Madison or Chenango counties interested in Morrisville State may now have a chance to attend with free tuition.

The Local Campus Award is a new scholarship being offered in the fall of 2014 to incoming freshmen ranked in the top 10% of their graduating high school class. This award provides free tuition and fees.

“If a student receives Pell or Tap Awards, the scholarship will make up the difference that these grants do not cover,” said Lindsey Graham, senior admissions advisor at Morrisville State.

“The students and parents at Morrisville-Eaton were excited, beyond belief, regarding the new scholarship which will be awarded to the top 10% of our graduating class, said Michael Drahos, superintendent of the Morrisville-Eaton Central School District. “In a district where more than two out of every three students qualifies for free-and-reduced lunches, the challenge of college affordability often seems insurmountable. This scholarship not only offers new financial hope to many families, but also should provide an additional incentive for students to strive for academic excellence during their high school years.”

“Morrisville State is excited to offer this scholarship opportunity to students in our local area for the hard work they have invested throughout their high school education,” Graham said.

“I enjoy the fact that I can continue to support some of our students when they continue to participate as athletes or in other community events while in Morrisville,” Drahos added. “I also enjoy tapping into their college learning and asking them to share some of those lessons with our juniors and seniors.”

Applicants must submit their senior year class rank and a FASFA to the MSC Financial Aid office no later than March 1 of their senior year. The scholarship is available on both Morrisville and Norwich campuses. For more information, call the Admissions Office at 315.684.6046.
