The Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) recently released its pre-season weight class individual rankings, selecting Morrisville State College sophomore wrestler, Wheeler Brunschmid (Sherburne, NY/Sherburne-Earlville) fifth in the 184 pound weight class.
Brunschmid finished last season with a 12-13 overall record, recording one technical fall, two major decisions and three pins in his freshman campaign.
Majoring in sports, nutrition and fitness management at Morrisville State, Brunschmid is a 2008 graduate of Sherburne-Earlville High School and is the son of Patrick and Kristine Brunschmid of Sherburne, N.Y.
Morrisville State is ranked ninth in the team pre-season poll. Ithaca College tops the poll and is followed by Cortland in second.
The Mustangs open the 2009-10 season with a dual match Saturday, October 31 on the road at the University of Scranton.
Morrisville State begins active membership within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III in 2009-10 and is eligible for NCAA Championship Tournament play.
Morrisville State College offers more than 75 bachelor and associate degrees and options.
