Three earn NEAC All-Conference Men's Basketball honors for Morrisville State

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) office announced its 2011-12 Men's Basketball All-Conference Teams, naming three Morrisville State student-athletes to its first, second and third teams.

Morrisville State posted an NCAA best 17-8 record, and finished atop the conference with a 14-1 record, earning the overall top seed in the conference championship tournament this season, and the right to host the event.



Forward Mickey Davis (Jamesville, N.Y. / Jamesvile-DeWitt) earned first team all-conference honors, leading Morrisville State and the conference in scoring this season, averaging 17.9 points per game, while also posting averages of 6.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Davis scored in double figures in all but two contests for the Mustangs this season, highlighted by a career high 35 points that earned NEAC Player of the Week honors in December. He currently ranks 80th nationally in points per game.



The sophomore is a graduate of Jamesville-Dewitt High, and is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. He is the son of Margaret and Mickey Davis of Jamesville.



Forward Kucjok Ater (Syracuse, N.Y. / Bishop Grimes) was named to the second team, following a stellar sophomore season. In 24 games for the Mustangs, Ater posted averages of 12.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, shooting a team best .567 percent from the floor and ranking fourth overall in the conference in field goal percentage. Throughout the season he compiled 37 assists and 26 steals, while blocking a team high 38 shots, ranking second in the conference and 65th nationally. In early February, Ater posted a collegiate high 25 points in the victory over Gallaudet, earning NEAC Player of the Week honors.



The graduate of Bishop Grimes High School is majoring in individual studies at Morrisville State. He is the son of Persikila Depmac of Syracuse.



Brandon Hanks (Syracuse, N.Y. / Henninger) earned third team honors at guard for Morrisville State, and was instrumental to the Mustangs success this season. In 25 games, he posted averages of 11.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.9 steals per game, while shooting a team best 76.9 percent from the free throw line (70-of-91), ranking third overall in the NEAC. Hanks currently ranks third in the conference in assists (113), is eighth in steals (48) and seventh in defensive rebounds (110). In late January, he posted a collegiate best 10 assists for a double-double performance in the win over Wells. Hanks also earned NEAC Player of the Week honors this season.



The sophomore is a graduate of Henninger High and is majoring in individual studies at Morrisville State. He is the son of Ethel and Shawn Hanks of Syracuse.



Morrisville State will host the 2012 NEAC Championship Tournament Saturday, February 25 (semi-finals) and Sunday, February 26 (championship) in the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities Gymnasium. Penn State Harrisburg tips off against Wells College at 2 p.m. in the first semi on Saturday and the Mustangs follow against Penn State Berks in the second semi at 4 p.m.
