Second half propels Morrisville State women to 60-35 win over Bard

Morrisville State College women's basketball outscored Bard 40-15 in the second half enroute to a 60-35 victory Saturday afternoon at the Kevin Fee/Roo Classic Basketball Tournament held at SUNY Canton.



Morrisville State improves to 1-2 overall with the victory.



Nijah Townsend (Bronx, NY) led Morrisville State with 18 points and seven rebounds, netting 11 points in the second half, while Nijee Scott (Bronx, NY) and Dyshea Smiley (Harlem, NY) each added 11 total. Scott also had four assists and Smiley five steals.



The Mustangs opened the second half with three straight layups before Bard was able to put points up on the board and cut the lead to four, but Morrisville State responded with a 17-0 run over an eight minute span to take a commanding 20 point lead with just under eight minutes to go on the clock. Morrisville State led by as many as 27 in the second half.



Morrisville State shot 36.8 percent from the floor compared to 19 percent by Bard in the victory, and forced 24 turnovers in the contest.



The Mustangs return to the court December 1st at Clarkson.
