Morrisville State women fall short in non-conference action against Hartwick, 50-42

The Morrisville State College women's basketball team put together a second half comeback attempt, but ran out of time as visiting Hartwick College recorded the 50-42 non-conference victory Saturday afternoon in Morrisville.



Morrisville State drops to 1-4 overall, while Hartwick improves to 4-2.



Maria Foglia led Hartwick with 12 points and four assists, while Tracey Koch added 10 points and grabbed a game best 10 rebounds. Samantha Fox contributed eight points and pulled down eight boards in the win.



Morrisville State got a team high 12 points from Jennel Paul (Brooklyn, NY) to go along with four rebounds and five assists, while teammate Nijah Townsend (Bronx, NY) added 10 points and grabbed nine boards.



The Hawks used a 21-8 run over the final 12 minutes of the first half to build up a 34-19 lead at the break and increased that lead to as many as 22 in the second before the Mustangs put together a comeback attempt.



Morrisville State chipped away at the lead outscoring the Hawks 18-7 over the final 15 minutes to pull within seven, but the Mustangs ran out of time as Hartwick recorded the victory.



Morrisville State returns to the court Wednesday, hosting Keuka College in their North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. in the STUAC Gymnasium on the Morrisville State campus.
