Morrisville State College athletics has announced the addition of Nathan McConnell to the football coaching staff for the upcoming 2012 season.
McConnell, a wide receiver and return specialist for the Mustangs from 2009-2011, will oversee the tight ends unit this fall.
Appearing in 29 games throughout his career at Morrisville State, he recorded 36 receptions for 494 yards and four touchdown scores, averaging 13.7 yards per catch. On special teams, McConnell returned 17 punts for 89 yards throughout his career, adding 14 kick returns for 210 total yards.
Off the playing field, McConnell was active in the community, participating in several service initiative programs, and was named a student-athlete representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He was also selected to serve as a communication liaison on the Football Leadership Council.
In 2011 he received the National Football Foundation, Central New York Chapter, Scholar-Athlete Award.
A native of Amherst, N.Y., McConnell graduated from Sweet Home High, where he earned All-Western New York Team honors in 2007.
