The Basketball Coaches Association of New York, Inc. announced its 2011-12 Division III Men's Basketball All-Star Teams, naming Morrisville State College sophomore, Mickey Davis (Jamesville, N.Y. / Jamesville-DeWitt), to its Upstate team.
The 6-foot-5 forward led Morrisville State and the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) in scoring this season, averaging 17.5 points per game, while adding averages of 6.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.6 steals per game for the Mustangs.
A threat both inside and from beyond the arc, Davis hit 50 from downtown, while converting a season total 192 shots from the floor. He scored in double figures in all but three contests on the season, highlighted by a career high 35 points that earned NEAC Player of the Week honors in December.
Named the NEAC Player of the Year, Davis also garnered All-Conference First Team honors while leading Morrisville State to its first conference championship title and bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament in the history of the program. He was also named an Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) second team All-Star, and was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) East All-District second team.
The sophomore is a graduate of Jamesville-Dewitt High, and is majoring in individual studies at Morrisville State. He is the son of Margaret and Mickey Davis of Jamesville.
