Junior guard Jailaan Kinsey (Syracuse, N.Y.) netted a team high 13 points as host Morrisville State College men’s basketball topped visiting SUNY ESF 93-34 in non-conference action in Morrisville.
The win boosts the Mustangs to 3-2 overall, while ESF, a first year program, falls to 0-5.
Kinsey tallied three from beyond the arc, while three additional teammates posted double figures, including Rhamel Williams (Bronx, N.Y.) and Ryan Jameson (Greenwich,
N.Y.) who each tallied 11.
Brandon Hanks (Syracuse, N.Y.) rounded out top scoring for the Mustangs with 10, adding six assists and five rebounds to his tallies. Nine additional teammates contributed to the win as Morrisville State’s bench collectively registered 52 points.
Morrisville State controlled the glass, out rebounding ESF 62-36 on the night, including 22-13 in offensive boards. Tom Wilk (Cortland, N.Y.) pulled down a team high 10 for the Mustangs, including four on the offensive glass, while chipping in seven points, assisting four others, and blocking three. Ryan Collins (Sherburne, N.Y.) added to Morrisville State’s domination on the boards, grabbing five total, four offensive, to go along with his eight points.
ESF’s Andrew LaPolt posted a team best seven points and seven rebounds on the night for the Mighty Oaks, while teammate Danny MacElrath added six points and four boards in the efforts.
Michael Fish posted the first basket of the night for the Mighty Oaks before Morrisville State rattled off 19 straight points in six minutes to take a commanding 17 point lead en route to a 46-15 halftime advantage.
Morrisville State hit 15-of-32 shots in the second half (46.9 percent), including six from beyond the arc, converting a total 32-of-71 shots (45.1 percent) from the floor, as they rolled to the 93-34 victory. ESF shot just 21.3 percent from the floor, hitting 13-of-61 shots taken.
The Mustangs return to the court Saturday, traveling to Hartwick College for a 3 p.m. tip.
