SUNY Morrisville is dedicated to fostering a positive environment for learning and ensuring the safety, rights, and dignity of every member of the College community, where each is free to express themselves and enjoy reasonable access to an education, institutional resources, employment, and participation in institutional programs and activities. To that end, students are encouraged to assume individual responsibility for respecting the rights and dignity of others and for helping to promote the free and open exchange of ideas in an atmosphere of mutual respect. Appropriate policies and practices are narrowly tailored in the Student Code of Conduct to only restrict such speech-related conduct that substantially interferes with others’ educational opportunities, or otherwise fits the definition of legally-prohibited conduct, such as threats of violence, harassment or discrimination.
