Individual Studies A.A., A.A.S., A.S.

Create your own college experience, optimize your career path!

The three degree programs - A.A., A.S., and A.A.S. - in Individual Studies provide a unique opportunity for students to take an active role in building his or her academic program. Some students choose the Individual Studies Program when they have career or educational goals that require unique combinations of courses; many other students use the Individual Studies Program to sample a few different academic areas before choosing a major. Our advisors of the program work with each student to develop an educational career plan best suited to their unique needs and interests.

There are very few specific courses required for the Individual Studies degrees; students enrolled in the Individual Studies program may take elective courses from other academic programs on campus. This flexibility allows students to:

  • explore career goals;
  • enroll in courses that strengthen their educational background;
  • change direction after a semester or two without substantial loss of credits;
  • and experience a wide range of academic areas in preparation for continuing in a four-year program.

Students may eventually transfer into a specific academic program or they may graduate with an Individual Studies degree.
