Why did you choose to attend Morrisville?
“Morrisville offered the Application Software Development major that I wanted. Every other school I looked at was very broad, like Computer Science or Computer Information. So I really wanted to stick to the development side of Information Technology.”
What important lesson did you learn at MSC?
“Morrisville showed me who I was, and what I was made of. Before coming to Morrisville, I didn’t know what direction I was going in; I thought that I had to go to school because how else will I make money or be successful. Morrisville opened doors for me that I didn't know were possible; and made me reach new limits and bring out my highest potential.”
What is your biggest achievement?
“I was always the underdog. I was always told that I wasn’t going to amount to anything. My mom kicked me out of the house when I was 17 years old because I didn’t graduate high school. But look at me now, I may not have walked down the aisle in high school, but I’m on the verge of walking down the aisle with a bachelor’s degree. There’s no bigger achievement for me! Morrisville definitely helped me get to this point in my life. The faculty and students made my Morrisville experience worth it.”
What “fun fact” can you tell us about Morrisville that is not well known?
“It’s a small college, with a lot of Mustang spirit! It’s one of those colleges were every single student here has a lot of spirit. We can be losing and there will still be a lot of spirit in the crowd. I go to a lot of sporting events. I go to cheer and they are fun!”
What activities have you been involved with on campus?
“I’m involved in Student Government Organization (SGO) and I attend all the Campus Activities Board (CAB) events. I do everything that Morrisville offers, such as movies, carnivals and stuff like that.”
What has been your favorite campus event or activity?
“All of the homecoming weekends are pretty fun! My favorite campus event so far was the carnival at the 2013 Mustang Weekend. Mustang Weekend is always a big weekend, because all your friends and family come up. There were carnival rides and other events. For a small college, it’s cool to have stuff like that.”
What MSC professor has influenced you? Why?
“I would say Professor Marcoux. He’s the CIT department chair and also a professor. At the end of my sophomore year, he took me aside and told me that he sees a bright future for me. He gave me a little bit of encouragement, because I wasn’t too sure of where I stood in life. The internship that I got for my senior year is actually related to the course that I took with Professor Marcoux. If it wasn’t for that course, I probably wouldn’t have gotten the internship I have now.”
What are your plans after college and/or your career goals?
“I’m going to work at the Department of Information Technology as a mobile developer and further my career in Information Technology. My career goal is to become a database administrator. Morrisville definitely gave me the tools to go for that goal and to succeed. I will use those tools to expand my knowledge and increase my curiosity in IT.”
What advice would you give other students?
“In general I would say, always stay focused and never lose sight of what you really want to do. Morrisville is what you make of it. You have to make the best of any situation. If you do that Morrisville can be the best years of your life.”
