Why did you choose Morrisville?
“I liked the facilities and Morrisville had the exact major I wanted a degree in. The professors in the Horticulture Department were welcoming and explained some of the future projects that sparked my interest.”
What activities have you been involved with on and off campus?
“Volunteer Firefighter, Admissions Ambassador, Horticulture Department Plant Sale.”
What "fun fact" can you tell us about Morrisville that is not well known?
“Morrisville created its own brand called 'Morrisville Fresh'. Morrisville Fresh was created by the Agriculture Business program. They create, market, and sell products that are locally grown and processed. Some products include Slather Sauce, Apple Splashers, Maple Madness, and Pina Salsa. Morrisville Fresh also sells hydroponically grown butter crisp lettuce and fresh cheese curds. The Agriculture Business students take pride in the production of local foods that they help create.”
What MSC professor has influenced you and why?
“Professor Aida Khalil has influenced me the most. We have meaningful conversations and she helps me believe I can do what I set my heart to. She has overcome many challenges and is still strong to this day.”
What has been your favorite campus event or activity?
“Mustang Weekend is my favorite campus event. I like to participate in our plant sale and talk to families. We sell perennials, fresh flower arrangements and new this year was pumpkins. This year I participated in the dorm room burn where the fire department burns a mock dorm room setup to show students how quickly a fire can destroy a room. The fire department then puts the fire out and students are allowed to look at the damage up close.”
What are your plans after college or your career goals?
“I plan to work for T&D Growers, where I was offered a full time growing position, after I graduate. Eventually, I would like to own and operate my own greenhouses.”
